Biography of Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood’s biography begins at the a family cattle farm in a Christian family in Checotah, Oklahoma way before she ever began singing on the hit TV series, American Idol. Born on March 10, 1983, Carrie Underwood showed an interest in music at a very young age, when she sung at her local church at the age of 3. Growing up, she continued to pursue her love of singing at such local venues as the county fair, school productions, talent competitions, and even at car shows. Following graduating from Checotah High School, Carrie pursued a higher education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Carrie was nearing completion of a bachelor degree in mass communications when she heard about a talent search contest named American Idol and decide to give it a try. Encouraged by her mother, she headed to St. Louis, Missouri, and was an instant hit with the American Idol judges. She dominated the field of Idol contestants when she finally received the title of American Idol on May 11, 2005 by beating out Bo Bice.

As a result, Arista Records signed her up and Carrie promptly released her first single, “Inside Your Heaven,” which went straight to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Since then, her career is definitely going in the right direction with the #1 hit “Jesus Take The Wheel” and judged on her talent, there is more to come.
