Candleberry Inn B&B Retreat & Day Spa
Candleberry Inn Bed and Breakfast Retreat & Day Spa is located on 1.6 acres near the Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport on the east side of Greenville or “the Upstate” of South Carolina. Because each girl is part of such a small group, she will get much individualized attention from the Innkeeper herself and her talented teacher/assistant. They will be assisted by a number of amazing young people who have had extensive experience in instructing and developing young people. It is truly their desire to see each participate grow spiritually, mentally, socially, physically, and academically during her stay. Enjoy the hospitality and graciousness of the South as your young high school daughters experience an enriching experience with the owner and Innkeeper of Candleberry Inn B&B Retreat & Day Spa, Elaine Hufstetler. She plans to share the character-building experiences from her childhood, which were gleaned from 10 years of 4-H Club work, church activities, sewing, cooking, meal planning, camping, public speaking, art, manners, and etiquette. After high school, Elaine majored in Home Economics in a Christian university in South Carolina and later received her B.A. in Family and Childhood Development from an Alabama university. Having been born in Texas, lived 30 years in Michigan, spent 6 months in the Philippine Islands and several years in the Dominican Republic, this mother of six grown children has learned much from her life experiences and is ready and eager to pass much enrichment and instruction on to the next generation. Remember the days when girls received “Finishing School” instruction and were taught all aspects of learning how to become a well-manner, genteel, young lady? We take a walk in time teaching our campers some of the following: care for the home, finances, self-improvement, grooming, modeling, clothes selection, exercise, and spiritual enrichment along with a number of the activities listed above. Several days will be given to visiting and exploring colleges and universities in the area, challenging the students to explore educational and vocational choices. A trip to well-known tourist attractions in Atlanta, Georgia, is also planned as well as an outing to Ashville, North Carolina, to visit the famous Biltmore Estate, do some mountain exploration, and white-water rafting!
