Lego Facts & Lego History

Legos a child's plastic construction set for making mechanical models.  The lego toy line features colorful interlocking plastic bricks, lego gears, minifigures (also called minifigs or mini-figs), and other snappable pieces which can be assembled to create almost anything imaginable to a young child (or adult for that matter!)  The possibilities are endless!  They can create people, cars, planes, buses, trains, buildings, castles, sculptures, ships, construction equipment, spaceships, and even working lego robots are just a few of the lego objects that can be made with these fascinating bricks. Lego are engineered to fit together in a myriad of ways. 

Ole Kirk Christiansen of Denmark is attributed as the lego's inventor in the 1930's.  He invented legos originally using wood lego blocks!  Later in the 1949,  this toy invention was released as a plastic brick as we know it today!  

Since it began producing plastic legos, the Lego Group has released thousands of play sets themed around space, pirates, robots, vikings, dinosaurs, medieval castles, cities, suburban settings, wild west heros, holiday destinations,  the Arctic, boats, racing cars, trains, Batman, Star Wars, Spider-Man, Harry Potter, SpongeBob, Avatar: The Last Airbender and more.
